A tree bearing server racks and screens, surrounded by celestial diagrams and scholars, in the style of a Renaissance engraving

Virtual Sociality is a space for reflection on how we live together in an age of digital connection. Here you'll find essays exploring technology, culture, communication, and the perennial questions of human community as they manifest in our networked present.

The name gestures at a tension: sociality is embodied, local, rooted in place and presence. Yet increasingly our social lives unfold in virtual spaces—mediated by screens, shaped by algorithms, spanning distances that would have been unthinkable to earlier generations.

This is neither cause for simple celebration nor lament. It is, rather, an invitation to think carefully about what we are building and what we are losing, what new possibilities emerge and what old wisdom we might yet recover.
